Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 September 2026
RemDev ("we", "us") provides RemDev Chat, a service that lets a business put an AI chat assistant on its website. This policy explains what we do with personal information. It covers two different situations, and the difference matters:
- You have an account with us (you bought the service for your business). We are the controller of your account information.
- You chatted with a chatbot on someone else's website. That business chose what the chatbot knows and is responsible for it. We are a processor acting on their instructions. If you want your conversation deleted or want to know what they hold, ask that business — but we will help them do it, and you can contact us as well.
What we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your business name, email address and plan | To create your account, sign you in, and know which plan you are on |
| The information you enter about your business — services, prices, opening hours, policies | It is what the chatbot is allowed to answer from |
| Chat conversations between the chatbot and your visitors | To answer the question, and to show you what people ask and where the bot fell short |
| Enquiry details a visitor submits (name, phone or email, what they asked about) | So you can follow the enquiry up |
| Your IP address, when you or a visitor use the service | To rate-limit abuse, so one person cannot run up a bill or take the service down |
We do not ask for or want special-category information (health, religion, political views, and so on). If your visitors type it into a chat anyway, it will be handled like any other message.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of suppliers, and only where they are needed:
- DeepSeek — the AI model that writes the replies. Chat messages and your business information are sent there to generate an answer.
- Google (Firebase) — sign-in and storage of your account profile.
- Paddle — payment processing, once billing is live. Paddle is the merchant of record and handles your card details; we never see them.
- Our hosting provider and, if you switch it on, an email provider for enquiry notifications.
How long we keep it
- Account information — while your account is open, and for a short period afterwards in case of a billing dispute.
- Conversations and enquiries — while your account is open. You can delete individual enquiries from your dashboard, and closing your account deletes the lot.
- Rate-limiting records — minutes, not days.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Email info@remdev.co and we will respond within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your business information, your conversations and your enquiries — it cannot be undone. We will tell you if we cannot do something and why.
Cookies
We set one cookie, remdev_session, when you sign in. It is what keeps you logged in. It is not used for advertising or tracking, and it is not readable by JavaScript. The chatbot widget on a customer's website does not set cookies at all — it keeps a conversation in the browser's session storage so a visitor does not lose it by refreshing, and that disappears when they close the tab.
Security
Passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in readable form. Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to the database is limited to the operators of the service. No system is perfect, and we would rather tell you plainly than promise otherwise: if we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will tell you and the relevant authority without undue delay.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and email you about anything significant before it takes effect.
